A BLDC motor is a synchronous, electronically commutated motor that has a stator winding fitted with electromagnets and a series of magnets attached to the motor rotor. Brushless dc motors offer longevity and low maintenance since there are no brushes within the internal construction. A Brushless or BLDC motor converts supplied electrical energy into mechanical energy using electromagnets in the stator to spin permanent magnets on the rotor, without the need for brushes. Brushless motors offer high efficiency and feature superb controllability.

Compared with conventional motors, brushless DC gear motors are more compact, lighter in weight, and more energy efficient. In this paper, we describe the technology used to achieve the brushless DC gear motor’s high efficiency and the features of the new BMU driver. Brushless motors have an overall higher speed and torque and produce less noise than traditional brushed motors. They also run more efficiently and have little or no power loss, which is a problem that can accompany brushed motors due to increased friction caused by the brushes.

Brushless power tools, in general, are the higher performing tools. Removing the brushes from the motor means less friction. That means you lose less energy in friction and heat, and more energy goes into creating higher torque. Brushless motors also have less wearable parts leading to longer durability. Higher torque to weight ratio. Increased torque per watt of power input (increased efficiency) Increased reliability and lower maintenance requirements. Reduced operational and mechanical noise.
