A blower is a device that pushes out gases by imparting energy to increase its pressure and speed. noun. a person or thing that blows. a machine for supplying air at a moderate pressure, as to supply forced drafts or supercharge and scavenge diesel engines. snow blower Low pressure is caused by warm air rising to leave a large space under it. It produces high winds and warm air. A high-pressure system squeezes the air under it creating less pleasant conditions. Blowers make use low pressure and high pressure.

Centrifugal fans often contain a ducted housing to direct outgoing air in a specific direction or across a heat sink; such a fan is also called a blower, blower fan, or squirrel-cage fan (because it looks like a hamster wheel). Tiny ones used in computers are sometimes called biscuit blowers. A blower can protect the health and well-being of employees by moving air at such a high-pressure and velocity that air particles are virtually sucked out of the environment. For many industrial environments, blowers can protect electrical equipment from a dust explosion.

Centrifugal blowers or fans typically are comprised of four main components: a motor, a fan wheel, and housing. A centrifugal blower makes use of rotating impellers that are attached to the fan wheel, which is set within the exterior housing. Blower resistors are resistors which are used to control the fan speed of automotive blowers.
