Vertical Toggle Clamps are manual clamping devices with a toggle action that allow a workpiece to be securely fastened down. These types of clamp can be fastened to a fixture or work bench in a vertical position offering a quick action manual release. Vertical Lifting Clamps make light work of lifting sheet metal in a vertical position by gripping down securely to steel plate using by the teeth like jaws. The Nobles RIG-MATE Vertical Plate Clamp is designed as a standard plate clamp for the lifting and turning of steel plate, steel structures such as H and I beams and the lifting of steel pipes etc. As with all RIG-MATE products the clamp has a durable and lightweight design.

Toggle clamps are quick-action clamping tools that operate using an over-center locking principle known as a “toggle action.” Utilizing a system of levers and pivots, the clamping handle moves a linkage to its center position and the clamping arm meets the center to hold the fixture or workpiece in a locked position. Total stations are the primary survey instrument used in mining surveying. A total station is used to record the absolute location of the tunnel walls, ceilings (backs), and floors as the drifts of an underground mine are driven.

Some types will use a trigger mechanism, whereby the jaws are adjusted using a trigger or lever. Alternatively, some types have a traditional screw which adjusts the clamp. When the screw is rotated, the clamp closes around the workpiece and pressure is applied to keep it firmly in place. Toggle clamps can be classified as either vertical or horizontal depending on the orientation of the handle. Vertical toggle clamps live up their namesake by featuring a vertical handle, whereas horizontal toggle clamps feature a horizontal handle. Both types will apply a clamping force when you engage the handle.
