Switch Mode Power Supply (240/480/960-W Models) S8VK-WB. Even more compact three-phase 380 to 480 V input power supplies. Reduces wiring work with the Push-In Plus terminals. With a line-up that includes 24 VDC and 48 VDC models. A switched-mode power supply, sometimes known as a switch-mode power supply or ‘SMPS’, is an electronic power supply that integrates a switching regulator for efficient electrical power conversion. Like other supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a DC or AC source to DC loads while converting voltage and current.

OMRON provides many types of general-purpose Power Supplies, such as the type mounted to DIN rail or the type built into equipment. OMRON also provides the S8VS which provides notification of replacement timing, and the Buffer Block that handles momentary power interruptions, and other highly reliable Power Supplies. Switch mode supplies use a much smaller transformer or inductor. As a rough guide, if it feels like it would float it is switch mode while if it sinks it will probably be linear.

A switched-mode power supply (SMPS) is an electronic circuit that converts power using switching devices that are turned on and off at high frequencies, and storage components such as inductors or capacitors to supply power when the switching device is in its non-conduction state. Industrial power supplies are electrical devices used to provide power to industrial machinery. Any device that provides electrical power to a circuit can be deemed a power supply. In some cases, a power supply may be used to provide power to different electrical loads.
