High-Current, Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks with POWER CAGE CLAMP. The high-current, rail-mount terminal blocks with POWER CAGE CLAMP apply spring pressure to connect conductors up to 185 mm2 (350 kcmil). They are available as 35, 50, 95 and 185 mm2 (2, 1/0, 4/0 AWG; 350 kcmil) terminal blocks. Terminal blocks are connectors that terminate a single wire and connect it to a circuit or other system.
Terminal blocks come in a range of shapes, sizes and ratings, but always terminate a single wire (single pole) and are never multi-pole. In control systems, terminal blocks are used to connect panel-mounted equipment to power and field wiring. A typical automation system inside of an equipment rack may contain any number of components (such as controllers, PLCs, I/O modules, etc.) mounted on DIN rails and connected together via terminal blocks.
Terminal blocks are typically certified and/or designed to UL and/or IEC safety standards and are composed of materials that have a flammability rating meeting UL94V-0. Both UL and IEC ratings can appear on a datasheet with differing values. Terminal blocks, also referred to as connection terminals, terminal connectors, or screw terminals, consist of a modular housing and insulated body that connects two or more wires together.
